1. Download the Advent Calendar Project Pattern and the Advent Calendar Tree. Use the small square, circle, hexagon, and heart pegboards for your project. If you’re using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size pattern underneath it. Place all the beads for the design.
2. Cover the completed design with the ironing paper. Keeping the iron level, gently iron the beads in a circular motion for about 10 seconds to fuse the beads evenly. Ironed properly, the beads will still have an open center. Warning: Parents—the ironing must be done by an adult only. Some irons may emit steam. Please keep children at a safe distance.
3. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Lift your design from the pegboard; flip the design over and repeat step #2. Your pegboards and ironing paper are reusable.
4. Assembly: Glue the gold sequins to the star which will be piece #25 at the top of the tree.
Print out both pages of the Advent Calendar Tree file on 8.5" x 11" paper. Glue them together and mount onto your 11" x 17" piece of cardboard. Apply Velcro® circles to the tree just below each number, with the one for 25 above the number. Apply the other halves of the Velcro® circles to the ornaments.
5. Each day of December, add another ornament to your tree. It doesn’t matter which one, but save the star for last. If you want to make a game of it, you can put the ornaments in a stocking and have your child pull out an ornament without looking. Each day will be a surprise! If they can guess what the piece is just by touch, you can reward them with a cookie!
