  • 3-D Harvest Corn

    Designed By Holly Craft

This bundle of Harvest Corn, created with Perler Beads, will be festive on your front door or anywhere as a decoration during the fall season. Use rich ribbon as the shucks and these ears of corn will set the tone for those crisp days of autumn!

Directions:

# Beads Needed:
Rust - 1 bag
Cranapple - 1 bag
Orange - 1 bag
Cheddar - 1 bag
Gold Metallic - 1 bag
Tan - 1 bag
Light Brown - 1 bag
Brown - 1 bag
Creme - 1 bag

Note: Since this project is created from a mix of bead colors, we recommend you have 1 bag of each of the colors.

1. Download the 3-D Harvest Corn Project Pattern. This project lets you place the bead colors as you like, and the patterns are just to be used as a guide or suggestion. Feel free to be creative!

2. Create an autumn bead mix with all the colors. The cob itself is the tan color, but all the other colors are to be used randomly. Use the small circle pegboard for your project. If you’re using a clear pegboard, slide the actual-size pattern underneath it. Place all the beads for the design.

3. Ask an adult to fuse your designs. Place your pegboard on a flat, heat-safe surface. Set a household iron to the medium setting. Place ironing paper over the pegboard. In a circular motion, begin to iron the project. When ironed properly, the beads will still have an open center. Let the design cool.

4. Remove the paper and bead design from the pegboard. Flip the design over to expose the non-fused side. Repeat step two. Let cool completely. Note: Beads need heat for about 10-20 seconds per side to fuse evenly. Depending on the size of the project, additional heating time may be required.

5. Once the design is cool, peel off the ironing paper. Lift your design from the pegboard; flip the design over and repeat step #2. Your pegboard and ironing paper are reusable.

6. For each ear, glue all the rings together in order by size.

7. To create the shucks for each cob, combine 10" lengths of your various ribbons and knot tightly together at one end. The knot must be small enough to be inserted through the opening in the top of each cob. After you insert the ribbons into the cob, glue them in place and trim if needed.

8. Gather the cobs and use a length of yarn to tie the shucks together. Knot the yarn securely, then create a hanger if you intend to use your piece on a door or wreath.

9. Add one last piece of ribbon around the shucks and tie in a pretty knot or bow. Angle cut the ends of the ribbons.
