Directions:

  1. Trim 2-1/2" off all four sides of the stitched quilt, squaring the corners
  2. Cut the following from the fabric for the border and tabs: Side Borders: two 51" x 7" pieces Top and Bottom Borders: two 29" x 7" pieces Tabs: ten pieces using the pattern as a guide (pattern.pdf – loaded as helpful download).

  3. Sew the top and bottom borders to the stitched quilt.  Press the seam allowances toward the borders.  NOTE: When sewing pieces together, always place the right sides together and use a 1/2" seam allowance.

  4. Sew the side borders to the stitched quilt and top and bottom borders. Press the seam allowances toward the borders to complete the front.

  5. Place the right sides of two tab pieces together. Sew them together, leaving the short straight end open. Turn the tab right side out and press. Make five tabs. Trim the backing fabric to match the front. Pin the tabs to the back as shown.

  6. Sew the front and back together, leaving a 6" opening on one side.
  7. Turn the wall hanging right side out and slip stitch the opening closed.
  8. Fold the tabs over the front. Hand-stitch the tab edges to the front.
  9. Sew one button to each tab.  Working in the seam line between the quilt and the borders, sew through all layers.
